Getting Status FAQ

Last updated: March 2nd, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

Q: When does the Points year run from?

A: 1st January to 31st December – it doesn’t matter when you sign up – just sign up before your first stay!

Q:How many points do I need to get to Gold / Platinum

A:See this article

Q: How long does my status last?

A: To the end of the current year and the entire next year

Q: Once I reach Gold do I need 40,000 more points or 60,000 points to hit Platinum Elite?

A: You only need 40,000 points to hit Platinum Elite

Q: Can I carry over my status points from year to year?

A: No status points are lost at the end of each year

Q: How can I get to Gold quicker?

A: You can buy Gold status for US$50 – is it worth it? I don’t think so.

Q: What are base points?

A: You earn 10 point per US dollar or equivalent. This figure is used for calculated Gold/Platinum bonuses and also for some promotions

Q: Do only base points count toward my status?

A: No – all points regardless of where you collect them count, including bonus points, credit applications and buying miles online.

For example you could apply for a UK credit card (25,000) and buy 35,000 points and you’d hit Platinum without even staying in a hotel

Q: If I redeem my points for a room does that count against my status target?

In a word no! It’s what you earn not what you spend that counts.

I’m a little confused. I thought points never expired. I have just over 18,000 points. In January, will I return to 0? Or is that saying I need to make my stays before Dec. 31 to make it up to gold status? If I make gold status in December, will I lose it again in January? So confused. Thank you for this site. It helps.

The status points count is reset at the end of year back to 0, so you will need your extra stays to hit Gold. You could just buy the points to hit Gold.

But you don’t need to spend the points just yet, you can save these up over multiple years.

Any points you earn stay on your account and do not expire. If by the end of 2011 you reach platinum status, then for 2012 you remain at that level. However, if by the end of 2012 you did not earn the 60000 points or 50 nights to maintain platinum status, you will drop down 1 tier to gold level. Hope that clears things up!

Hi, I am a member of the Priority Card club but have lost my card and therefore my number. Who should I contact to get a new card and find out how many points I have earned?

I think the base points for Staybridge and Candlewood are 5 points per dollar spent. The rest of the chains are 10 points per dollar spent.

As to J Moody, call the service center and they can help you or go to the FAQ and you can reprint your card.

Once you have earned Elite membership status in any calendar year, you will maintain such status through the end of the following calendar year.

Though, you need to restart your stays/points over in Jan of every year to keep going, you will not lose any points alreay accumulated.

    Love this un official site
