Free Weekend Night Certificate

Ok, the weekend night coupon has been devalued in the last year, previously you could book any rate and get the second night free (including the cheapest advance purchase rate). Now they have a special rate for the weekend coupon which tends to be the same as the best-flexible – except it’s not flexible! But folk are still selling them on ebay for more than the cost of an Ambassador membership). As always any queries add a question to the bottom of this page and I’ll do our best to answer it.

So how do get you one?

  • You need to sign up to the Ambassador scheme – and you get one in your Ambassador welcome box which arrives 3 to 8 weeks after sign up (depends where you live in the world, but they are dispatched from the USA)

Where and how can I use it?

What’s a weekend (in case you were wondering)?

  • Weekend is determined as Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except in the Middle East where hotels may define weekend as Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Which Night is Free?

  • The second night (even if the rate changes between the two nights)

What Rate do I book?

  • Any rate (see rules)
  • If you book an Advance Purchase rate you will get the second night credited back to your original form of payment  (don’t forget currency fluctuations may make this work for or against you)
  • You now have to book the special rate here

What are the rules?

  • The certificate entitles you to complimentary accommodation for the second night when you spend a minimum two-night weekend stay at any InterContinental hotel or resort
  • Valid for 12 months
  • Not applicable for suites.
  • Any rate may be booked when using the complimentary weekend night certificate with the following exceptions: In conjunction with any other promotion, Priority Club Reward Nights, Net Wholesaler/Inclusive Groups, Third Party Website/Internet and Employee rate

hello, if someone can tell me why the voucher is not applicable for suites? why we can’t pay for one night and the next night in a suite will be with the voucher of complimentary weekend night voucher?what is the problem? can someone explain to me ? it’s just not making justice I think!!!it’s so unfair!!!!

I guess it costs the hotel too much in lost revenue?

Although all this means is that we will now all book cheaper rooms when using the weekend certificate and the hotel will lose out.

Please just humor me on this one…

What if I was to book a weekend @ an IC on the 2-4-1 rate (where the second night is free), how does the certificate work – or maybe doesn’t work..??

    Thanks.

The Ambassador BOGO/BOOF weekend certifcates have changed as of March 2010.

New T&C’s and the way you make a BOGO/BOGOF reservation applies.

Also, the new ‘Ambassador Certificate Reservation’ rates are much higher than Adv.Purch, Best Flex or F&F rates.

However, if you have a certificate issued prior to March 1st you can still use it with the AP, BF, F&F rates.

    the e-mail I recieved…..

    Dear Mr. XXXXXXXX,

Thank you for taking the time to contact the InterContinental Ambassador Service Center.

We would like to clarify that the new Complimentary Weekend Night Certificate that has to be booked under the new Weekend Rate are vouchers issued beginning 01 March 2010. Weekend Night Certificates that are issued prior to this date maybe booked using any Business or Leisure rate, including Advance Purchase rates. These rates maybe booked through the PriorityClub.com website.

Advance reservations are required as rooms that are allocated on the Ambassador Weekend Rate are subject to availability.

Alternatively, to avoid fraudulent use of the voucher, hotels will now require the original copy of the Complimentary Weekend Night Certificate to be presented upon arrival. Meanwhile, your Ambassador card maybe presented upon arrival, or your membership number ( 000000000 ) quoted upon check-in to ensure receipt of your benefits.

We hope to have assisted in clarifying your inquiry and our apologies for the confusion this matter has caused. Should you have further queries or concerns, please call us at +44 870 400 xxxx / 1 888 211 7996.

    Sincerely,

    xx xxxxxxxx

I just changed my reservation from Best Flex to Ambassador certificate for the IC Park Lane in London and it was the same rate. However, when I spoke with the reservation agent, she didn’t mention that I could use any published rate on my pre-March 2010 certificate, which would have been nice. Thanks for this info – it is going to save me quite a bit, as I’ll change over to pre-paid when I get closer to the time of our trip.

I just got an email from Ambassador to renew my membership which is up the end of July, either for $100 or for 20,000 points. Does one get 5000 extra points annually as an Ambassador? I thought someone once posted a bulletin that his renewal cost him only 15,000 points? I wonder if I should wait a month – maybe they will offer it to me for less….

    Hi –
I have two questions about the “Ambassador Free Weekend Night” coupon:
    1) Does this rate include breakfast? When I start to book, I am offered 1-2 options, but breakfast is not mentioned either way.
    2) Are PC Points awarded for this stay?

    @szklarski piotr
if you are an ambassador, let alone RA you do not want to
book a suite. You book the cheapest room and then try
to get an upgrade to a suite. I have been about 100 nights
at IC last 2-3 years. Never booked a suite, but found myself
almost always at a suite. A few times even the presidential.

    @Mark
the rate usually does not include breakfast. But, for example,
if the hotel has a club and they upgrade you to a club room
you get a breakfast. You do get points. I believe that if you
enroll in the accelerator you get credit for BOTH nights.

I got this response in an e-mail from PCR when my stay in Aug 2011 with the Ambassador Certificate was not credited to my account – unlike previous Ambassador Certificate stays, this one they only credited one night of two nights. Is this a policy change or a particular uptight accounts manager?
“…..Further, we would like to remind you for the Ambassador Certificate reservation we only credit one night stay. Please see above adjustment.

I have just stayed at the Intercontinental Hamburg with an Ambassador Certificate. I was refused points on the grounds that it was a House Complimentary Rate. Any thoughts?
