Update on Reward Nights Devalution

January 15th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Even with Priority club saying that some hotels will need less points for a night’s stay – the overriding feeling is that we are in for a increase for the hotels we actually want to say in when we redeem our points – which are those typically in locations where we holiday/vacation.

So what’s the “official” response to feedback from Priority Club (thank you Cris):

Thank you for your reply. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Your comments have been documented and shared with the management staff of the Priority Club® Rewards Service Center. The information is also available to our corporate executives that make decisions pertaining to future enhancements of our program.

Our Priority Club Rewards members are our most valued customers and we appreciate your loyalty to our hotels. Your honest feedback allows us to make future enhancements to our program and ensure our members are satisfied with our program.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us as we value your patronage. Should you require further assistance, please feel free to contact the Priority Club Service Center again.

The only bit of good news – you can book rooms at the old rates until March 18th 2012 via telephone (see small print)

The Reward Night chart above is effective January 18, 2012.  If the hotel that you originally planned to book now requires more points, simply call the Priority Club Service Center to reserve your Reward Night and ask for the original point price.  This offer is valid through March 18, 2012.

Oh what a familiar answer, I have had this on a few occassions, its the standard response email. If you respond to this then you get another standard response. Then reply again and yoiu will get a human response.

How do we know what the old rates were?

I’ve had to take advantage of “using the old rate” this week to book 3 rooms for 2 nights. It was a slow process mainly because I had to jump through multiple people until I could get someone that could actually use the old point structure. Then, it took forever for them to determine the old point structure. The only bonus to all this was that instead of charging me the old point value (15000) they topped up my account by the difference between the old and the new (+10000 x 6) which immediately bumped me back up to platinum for next year.

I wished they would have shown old and new rates right on the site for the two month period so people could have seen this as a much more transparent change. Obviously they did this for their benefit, not ours and the points will be worth less and less over time. I remember staying at Intercontinental Hotels and having the resort fee waved because I did reward nights. They are now covering that with an extra 10000 points at those locations now which equates to roughly 60$ worth. Most resort fees I have seen have been in the 30-40$ range so 5000 extra points would have been sufficient to cover the fees. Less value to us and more drain on our points.

Maybe it is time for everyone that uses this site to clearly voice their discontent. Can the site owners provide a link we could all use to let priority club know how we feel?
