Crack the Case – The Big Break

Are you debating whether it’s worth going on that mattress run to complete the “Crack the Case”? I logged in to my account today to find the following when I clicked on the “Stay x Saturdays latch”:

Here’s your Big Break
Congratulations, Agent <me>! You’ve been hand selected to receive DOUBLE credit for Saturday stays in May.

Not that it’s going to change my behaviour as this latch only earns me 1800 points – but it would have been nice to get a heads up on this via e-mail.

So check your account - you might have something similar!

    That’s interesting. That has not been offered to me, but might I ask, are you anywhere near “cracking the case?” I am only 8 nights away from cracking the case (which I’m going to do!) so I wonder if they offered this to folks who can’t meet the big goal anyway.

    I need 3 more Saturdays (well now 1.5) for that latch, and more days than there are left in this month to “crack the case”…so it was a token effort!

    That makes sense then. If they get you to stay 2 Saturdays for a paltry 1800 points, they’re doing pretty well, but if you just had to stay 2 Saturdays to get 200,000 points, it would be worthwhile to just book a room near home for the next two weekends. But who knows, maybe the system isn’t as smart as you’d think, and maybe someone else can cash in big on this.

    I got the same offer even though I already stayed the # of Saturdays needed and cracked the case months ago.

    I go the offer after I already cracked the Saturday case. And I did get an email about a day or two after I noticed the pop up on the website.

    Well, Be glad you got the chance. Apparently they nixed the most loyal ( >80 nts/year) off the list to get in on the “Crack the Case” promotion alltogether. Now why would you risk pissing off your most loyal customers by not giving them the opportunity to earn some bonus points? Makes no sense to me.

    They didn’t nix those customers. Some of the guys here had insane goals (180+ room nights) to get to those goals. I think I had somewhere around 85-90 nights last year and I was included (99 nights was the goal for August – May).

    Annoyed_Loyal_Member – Mind if I ask if you ever take the surveys? As best I could tell, the goals were based on feedback I’d given in previous surveys, probably coupled with my stay history. And to be fair, I suspect very few of the members who were in the 100+ nights a year range ended up getting the payout on the points as the goals were pretty lofty.
