Priority Club’s Crack the Case – earn untold points…

What: Priority Club have targeted their members each with a personalised promotion. Unlike any promotion before this promotion must have had the IT department working overtime to produce individual challenges for each member and being able to capture all the tasks correctly!

“You have been hand selected to complete a very exclusive mission. Should you accept, you could earn up to x,000 bonus points—that’s enough for up to y free nights!*

The mission is comprised of a number of tasks, each task awards a small bonus on completion, but complete them all and a “mega-bonus” is awarded. These tasks include:

– Signing up for a credit card (US only)

– Stay in x different brands (and yes Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express are different brands)

– Complete a long winded survey

– Stay x Saturdays

– Stay y nights

Tips:

– One night can could against multiple targets (i.e. a Saturday night stay  would count against 3 of the targets above)

– This promotion continues to 31st May 2011, so you have 9 months to do it

– One stay away from triggering the big one? Try and leave it until early next year – that way secure your platinum status for 2011 (if needed) AND 2012 (assuming your bonus is 60,000 or more)

How:

– If you have haven’t received an invite try asking for one here

– If you’ve already entered your code – just login here

Comments:

– What was your challenge? Is it reasonable? Does it resemble anything like your travel patterns or has the PC computer got it totally wrong!

There is a new “cardck the code” promo.

Feature: every member seems to be getting a different promo

I’m thinking this “crack the code” promo is going to backfire due to its capricious nature.

Some are getting codes for upto 500K points, some are only having to break 4 locks instead of all 5.

When this gets out, there will be lots of insulted members.

    my targets:
    opt for email promo 10000points
    survey 2000
    4 Saturdays 2200
    Stay 10 nights 1700
    3 different brands 1200
    all 5 bonus 89000
for me its easy except 3 different brands because I’m always in crowne plaza.

My target is not very reasonable : 102 nights, 21 different brands and 15 saturdays.
One question : do we have to do something before starting to spend nights? or PC will simply count the nights and give afterwards bonus points? thanks for a response.

    Account Issue
Please be advised, we appreciate your interest but you were not targeted to participate in this campaign.

  6. DJ
    August 26th, 2010 at 07:15 | #6

My account was not targeted. Anyone know a means to be included in this?

  7. August 26th, 2010 at 08:54 | #7

If you already have the PC credit card, they want me to charge over 22K on it in the next 9 months. Unreasonable.
Also, I have to satisfy ALL 5 criteria, not just 4 out of 5 like many.

Fanfan: logging in with your code started the process. They will track it like any other offer.

Gazza and DJ: you should rightly feel insulted.

  8. August 26th, 2010 at 09:00 | #8

Well the double points promo ends soon, I have my platinum status for next year so I may just rack up some points elsewhere until there is another promo or next January, it was nice of Best Western to status match and give me a Diamond card.

    no! I’m from Montenegro

  11. August 26th, 2010 at 09:43 | #12

The easy one: opt-in for e-mail: 10,000 points!!!! I got 250 points for doing this 3 years ago.

Mine is 182 room nights, a survey for 500 points, 113 different properties, stay 30 saturdays, or the credit card. I think this is a little nuts.

  13. Brock Schumaker
    August 26th, 2010 at 21:28 | #14

I forgot to include what my bonus would be at completion, 782,400.

    September 7th, 2010 at 05:30 | #17

Its a very selected group for invites. I contacted platinum line to try and “blag” a code, saying I must have misplaced mine in email, no chance they just respond with you have not been invited… I must be a soft touch as I stay 3-4 nights a week in a Cro

  17. Darren
    September 7th, 2010 at 05:33 | #18

wne Plaza, so they already have circa 150 nights a year guaranteed from me…. So why do they need to offer me any more incentive? Just got matched with Best Western to Diamond level without staying a night, so trying them next week for one week only out of protest…. (be back inthe plaza the week after ;-) …..

    September 15th, 2010 at 04:47 | #20

I was not included in the promotion, but I emailed them about it and today I got a very positive response:

“Thank you for your interest in the Crack the Case promotion.
Please allow 48 hours for your account to be included in this promotion. Then, login to https://crackthecase.priorityclub.com/login using your Priority Club Rewards membership number and PIN to see your individual lock targets.”

Interesting. I have to crack only 4 of 5 for 91K points.

60K for the credit card, 500 for the survey, 10 nights for 5K, 2 different brands for 2.2K and two Saturdays for 3.3K

Didn’t know it included platinum status! Cool. I’ll save the fourth task for January – thanks for the tip.

    September 19th, 2010 at 05:48 | #22

Happy to receive the Crack the Case invitation code, but theres is less hope to unlock all four latches:

    Take a survey (500) – done
Stay at 5 brands (4,400) – quite hard in my region / area of travel
Stay two Saturdays (1,300) – will be done soon
Stay 78 room nights (28,900) – unfortunately, that will be totally impossible

Especially the 78 room nights will be the show stopper – no chance for the additional 150,000 points. Wondering how they calculate that room number, cause so far I only reached 19 room nights this year. Looks like there is no big motivation for me to spend extra nights at ICH Hotels, but I’m quite happy about the 1,800 extra bonus points I will surely get … better then nothing. ;-)

    @Brock Schumaker
Mine is crazy too.. but not like yours
    take a survey 1000 pts
    visa card 30000 pts
    3 saturdays 1700 pts
    39 different properties 21700 pts
    152 nights 28300 pts
    379,700 total pts

If you didn’t get an offer code try putting in 7 x’s… “xxxxxxx” without quotes in the unique offer ID box, then your regular Priority Club number and pin.

I agree, many loyal members will be offended, especially when others are posting their requirements, and getting almost as many points for many less nights.

Some have to complete 4 tasks, some have to complete all 5, others have to complete 5 out of 6.
Will upset many members, I am sure.

In my case the difficulty being not to complete the exercise until 2011 as then I will be ensured for a continuation of my current status

So best wishes to you all in completing

I was a bit annoyed to find a my assistant got invited and made 140,000 points for doing a survey and saying 2 Saturday nights and a further 4 nights after that. So she has platinum status for nothing.

  28. Paul
    January 29th, 2011 at 11:21 | #29

I am from the UK. Been Platinum for 7 years.

    My tasks
    Survey 500 points – Done
    10 Room Nights 2200 points – Easy
    13 properties 5000 points – Possible
    10 Saturdays 3300 points – No way!
Need 4 out of four for 91000 extra, total of 102,000.

I agree, the bar is set very differently for different people. Probably end up with more disaffected members than contented ones.

  29. Brady
    February 13th, 2011 at 19:36 | #30

I’m amused by some of these as well! I suspect that most everyone invited has taken a survey in the past, and PC is hoping to capture some of the business they didn’t get in the past. Just my guess though. Interesting to see the wide range of requirements though. It seems that they offer a lot of points for people who don’t stay a lot making some of the challenges easier, but I’m in the category that it becomes pretty tough – though almost achievable. Mine:

Stay 99 room nights (18,300 pts) (Never going to happen – I’ll probably get to 70 or 80)
Stay at 24 different properties (13,300 pts) (Pretty sure I’ll get this one, have 17 so far)
Stay 6 Saturdays (3,300 pts) (Not going to happen)
Priority Club Visa (30,000 pts) Done
Complete a Survey (1,000 pts) Done

Finish 4 of 5 and get 213,000 bonus points. Unlock all 5 and the total is 278,900 pts.

I think it’s silly since it’s nearly impossible for me, and I’ll end up with 3 out of 5. But on the other hand, they’re dangling a carrot. For huge bonus points (and 213,000 points is a huge bonus) they might as well make me earn it.

    February 16th, 2011 at 12:02 | #31

I am in UK so the Visa card is not on offer. My four”locks” are:
    Survey – 2,000 points – done
96 room nights – 17,800 points – I am up to 86 nights and will have done this by the end of March
26 properties – 15,000 points – I am on 24 and will have done this by the end of February
9 Saturdays – 5,000 points – I am on 6 and will have done this by the end of March.
Bonus for four “locks” 227,000 points.
I managed to requalify for Platinum by 10 February!

I just wanted to say Thank-You to those who spend the time at PC Insider to bring such wonderful information to all of us.

I am a Priority Club Platinum Member, been Gold quite often during the last 5 years, but the offers and ideas presented here made achieving Platinum allot faster. I used to think, the only offers that were available were the ones directly offered by Priority Club through email.

How wrong I was !!! I am in the USA, Nashville, TN to be exact, and use weekend escapes to unwind and in the winter months a chance for the kids to go swimming.

If your ever in Nashville, visit the best Holiday Inn location at OPRYLAND/Airport on Elm Hill Pike for your lodging needs. This has turned into my second home, here in Nashville. Excellent accommodations, excellent food, wonderful staff, too die for Breakfast Buffet if WALTER is doing the omelet bar. WALTER is a comment/description all to himself..adds his unique brand of humor to your Breakfast enjoyment.

KENTUCKY – Bowling Green – University Plaza – Holiday Inn is another excellent IHG lodging choice. Again for the same reasons of excellent service, staff and accommodations.

Now I do LIKE and have stayed at the Crowne Plaza locations (where available) when traveling and the two mentioned Holiday Inn Brand location meet or exceed the Crowne reputation.

Something I have found out over the last 5 years as a Priority Club member, is YOU, YOURSELF can be your own PRICELINE. If you have stayed at a location before, received an excellant rate, etc, call directly to the hotel This is where you SKIP the PC operators and call the Hotel direct. Ask for the same room as last time, ask for the same rate, tell lthem how happy you were with a previous stay..etc. Make your best pitch ..often you will get a BETTER Than Available rate, just cause your coming back again. Often even spare of the moment!!

    March 24th, 2011 at 11:36 | #35

After spending 50,000 PC points recently leaving a balance of 6,472 priority club points, with the knowledge gained here in the Insider I maxed out a weekend stay with 22,532 points using all the bonuses of weekend stays, next stay, anniversary bonus, etc.

Pay attention, apply for every offer that you see or get offered.

  35. Brady
    April 27th, 2011 at 18:04 | #36

    @Angela
No, they do not. No “rewards” nights count toward Crack the Case. Only paid nights.

For US residents watch the credit card application with Chase as they are notoriously stringent with their approvals. Apply for the card first before rushing to cram in those hotel stays you might not need to crack the case.

I can’t believe I actually got this and the points posted today! 275,600 total points earned in this promotion. That’s a nice little bonus for how busy I’ve been with work lately.

    June 5th, 2011 at 17:15 | #39

I was given 5 locks, with only 4 that had to be activated. I just stayed a Saturday stay last weekend for one night on a Saturday and met the 4 and 5th unlocks, the locks were:

    Credit Card – Done!
    12 Days – Done!
    3 Brands – Done!
    3 Saturday Stays – Done!
    Survey – Done!

I will have earned 244,200 bonus points, I will take it, I don’t travel much on Saturdays and it was only $50.00 to meet the last two locks, well worth it for the extra points. :)
